Location & Directions
The market Oberstaufen is located in the beautiful Oberallgäu, the southernmost district of Germany. The border to the Austrian Vorarlberg is only a few kilometers away and also the Appenzell mountains in Switzerland with the Säntis can be seen from here.
Our house is located in the pedestrian zone in the centre of the village, the tourist information in the Haus des Gastes is our direct neighbour. Shops, restaurants and cafes, the Aquaria adventure pool and the spa park are within walking distance. You can start hiking and biking tours directly in front of our front door. Buses of the regional public transport, which take you for example to the mountain railroads of the Nagelfluhkette or to Immenstadt, leave from the nearby train station.

Arrival by car or motorcycle
Oberstaufen is located on the main road 308, which connects Lindau on Lake Constance with Immenstadt. At the exit “Oberstaufen” follow the signs towards “Ortsmitte” on Rainwaldstraße until you reach the church. Immediately after the Staufner pharmacy, still before the tourist information, turn right into our courtyard. Here you can park your car. The main entrance is in the front part of the building at Lindauer Straße 3. Since this is designated as a pedestrian zone, there are access restrictions there.

Arrival by train
You can arrive comfortably by train. The regional lines Munich-Lindau, Lindau-Ulm as well as Nuremberg- and Augsburg-Buchloe-Lindau stop in Oberstaufen every hour or so. With these lines we are also well connected to other regions.
From the train station to us it is 400 meters. At the end of the platform, turn left and follow Bahnhofstraße until you reach the church. There you keep right and turn right after the Pizzeria Roma Centro to the Sonne Wirt. Now you are in the Lindauer Straße. Our house is the next but one on the left side.

Being mobile in Oberstaufen
Public transport in Oberstaufen is well organized and geared to the needs of holidaymakers. For example, regional bus lines regularly serve the mountain railroads of our local mountains Hündle, Imberg and the Hochgrat at the Nagelfluhkette as well as stations along designated hiking trails. There are also connections to Immenstadt and Alpsee, for example, as well as to the nearby Bregenzerwald in Vorarlberg. With the Oberstaufen PLUS guest card, you even travel free of charge.
Taxi Oberstaufen runs Sunday to Wednesday from 6.30 am to 1 am and Thursday to Saturday from 6.30 am to 3 am. Telephone 08386-991582.
In addition, so-called ride-sharing benches (Mitfahrbänkle) were installed in April 2023. The idea behind it: People who take a seat on the benches signal to car drivers that they need a ride.
Finally, you can use the local carpooling service “fahrmob”, which is also available as an app, and thus even support local associations.
